Call 911 first. That's not a formality here.
On a corridor where NHTSA crash data shows I-4 running the highest fatal-crash rate per mile of any interstate in the country, and where Polk County recorded the worst per-driver traffic death rate of Florida's ten largest counties in 2022, we treat every collision call as a scene, not a job. If anyone is hurt or a vehicle is blocking a live lane, get 911 on the phone before you call us. We coordinate directly with Florida Highway Patrol or the Polk County Sheriff's Office once they're on scene, and we don't hook up a vehicle until an officer clears it for movement.
A rear-end collision in Lakeland surface street traffic near Memorial Boulevard is a straightforward flatbed recovery once the report is taken. A single-vehicle departure off the I-4 shoulder near the Auburndale side, where the ground drops into a drainage swale, is a winch-out first and a tow second, and it takes real time to do safely. We don't rush a recovery job to hit an ETA number. A rushed winch can shift a damaged frame or drop a vehicle back into the ditch.
What we recover
- Collision tows. Vehicle-to-vehicle crashes cleared for movement by the officer on scene, towed to your shop, insurer's direct-repair facility, or a storage yard.
- Winch-outs. Cars and trucks stuck in a roadside ditch, median swale, or soft shoulder after leaving the travel lane.
- Off-road recovery. Vehicles that left pavement entirely, into grass, brush, or a retention pond edge common along Polk County's rural stretches.
- Rollover and on-side recovery. Righting and load-securing before transport, handled with rated recovery straps, not a standard tow chain.
How it works
- Call 911 if anyone is hurt or a vehicle blocks traffic. Give us your location or mile marker.
- We dispatch a recovery unit and confirm with law enforcement on scene before staging.
- Our driver assesses the vehicle's position and whether a winch, straight tow, or rollover recovery is needed.
- We quote the recovery based on what's actually required, not a flat guess made over the phone.
- Once cleared, we tow to your chosen destination or coordinate with your insurer's preferred facility.
- We provide a receipt with itemized charges for your claim.
A straightforward collision tow with the vehicle already on the shoulder typically takes 30 to 45 minutes once our truck is on scene and cleared to work. A winch-out or off-road recovery runs longer, often 45 minutes to two hours, depending on the angle, ground conditions, and whether a second truck is needed to help pull the vehicle free.
Real price range
A standard collision tow from the scene to a shop or storage yard runs $125 to $225 depending on distance and whether the vehicle rolls or needs to be dragged onto the bed. A winch-out from a ditch or shallow median adds $75 to $250 on top of the tow, based on depth and angle. A full off-road or rollover recovery, which can require rigging, a second truck, or extended time on scene, runs $250 to $450. We quote the actual number once our driver sees the vehicle's position, not before.
Do you work directly with my insurance company?
Yes. We accept direct-bill for many carriers and provide an itemized receipt for reimbursement on the rest. Ask dispatch about your specific insurer when you call.
Can you tow my car if the police haven't released it yet?
No, and we won't try. Once the investigating officer clears the vehicle for movement, we move quickly. Until then, it stays put for the investigation.
What if my car is upside down or on its side?
That's a rollover recovery, not a standard tow. We use rated recovery straps and rig the vehicle upright or onto the bed as-is if righting it risks further damage, then transport it secured.
